In 1911, Mr. Sakata and his brother founded the Sakata Manufactory in Japan to produce solid gold fountain pen nibs. By 1929, Sailor's gold nib fountain pens became incredibly popular, leading the company to continuously innovate within the Japanese stationery industry. In 1954, the Sailor Pen Company made history by inventing Japan’s first ink cartridges for fountain pens.
