Moomin was created in 1945 by Tove Jansson, Finland’s beloved author, painter, and artist. This year, the world of those stories has once again been brought to life as a special edition Weeks techo, featuring plenty of quotes and original illustrations from the novels. It is a techo that lets you happily spend the year alongside the friends of Moominvalley.
Wrapped in a cover made from necktie fabric with a beautiful sheen and a pleasant woven texture, the techo is designed to feel like a light hardcover book with some give to it. Against a deep green background, Snufkin goes about his day in his own free-spirited way — fishing, playing music, and enjoying life.
Bronze lamé thread is woven into the ornaments on Snufkin’s hat, adding a subtle shimmer. Every detail has been brought to life with necktie weaving techniques. The year 2027 is foil-pressed in gold.
Among the scenes depicted, you’ll also find Snufkin spending time together with Moomintroll.
The weekly pages feature quotes from the friends of Moominvalley, excerpted from the novels, on every single page. In addition to memorable quotes from characters like Snufkin and Little My, you will also find words from Joxter and others. We selected these from a variety of novels so you can meet as many friends as possible.
These pages and the memo pages also feature many illustrations selected from the novels. You can enjoy using your techo while picturing scenes from the stories through the quotes and illustrations.
The monthly calendar pages also feature illustrations from the novels. Along with a different scene featured each month, we added small illustrations to the checkbox area at the bottom of the right page.
There are also bonus pages filled with illustrations chosen from the comics. These include a character introduction page for Moominvalley, as well as pages where you can write down experiences you have gathered throughout the year, such as “adventures I’ve had” and “delicious things I’ve eaten.”
Additionally, the standard bonus pages at the back of the book are packed with Moomin illustrations. These include a page where you can record the measurements of your body and personal items, and a page to list 100 things based on a theme of your choice.
The front endpaper you see right when you open the cover features an exclusive design for the Moomin Special Edition. It feels as if Moomin is there to welcome you at the very start of your techo. We also selected the colors of the two bookmarks to perfectly match the world of Moomin.
The back endpaper has a design with flowers and shells, with Hattifatteners hidden throughout.
In addition to the monthly calendars and weekly pages, there are also plenty of grid-lined memo pages.
