Includes Cover and dated 2026 Original book
This cover was created with an embroidered work designed by embroidery artist and illustrator iyo okumi.
okumi’s work features motifs such as animals, plants, and things that you can find in everyday life around you. The intricate embroidery is worked into fantastical and romantic designs that capture okumi’s unique worldview.
Created with the idea that it would envelop each person’s own unique story, this cover was named A Story About Me.
The Original size comes in a muted, gray color with a horse and rabbit opposing each other, as if they are on a playing card. They are ringed by a girl, a dove, a squirrel and some flowers. To finish off the piece, small bunches of wildflowers and leaves are embroidered into an elaborate border, a distinctive feature of okumi’s work. It is designed to resemble white lace for a classical feeling, completing this emblem that is both endearing and dignified.
With its charmingly simple design rendered in delicate, colorful embroidery, the piece is densely textured and full of volume. The three-dimensionality makes it feel like the story might just jump out of your techo at any moment.
The bookmark for this cover is a lace-like ribbon, which almost seems like an extension of the decorative border on the front of the cover.
The back features embroidery of small seashells, which look like they might have tumbled out of a box full of personal little treasures.
okumi describes that as embroidery requires both immense time and labour, the thread that flows over the cover expresses both the flow of time and the embroiderer’s feelings. We hope that you are able to take the time and create your very own story with this techo.
