How it's Made
Paper
Every custom letterpress job at Oblation can be printed on our own handmade paper or on a curated selection of fine cardstock.
Paper choice affects the depth of the impression, the way ink sits on the surface, and the weight of the finished piece. We’ll guide you every step of the way.
Ink
The classic letterpress impression. An inked plate is pressed into the paper, leaving a mark you can see and feel. Available in a wide range of custom ink colors.
Foil
A metallic or pigmented foil is pressed onto the paper using heat and pressure. Foil works particularly well for motifs and typography.
Blind Emboss
No ink, no foil, just the impression of the plate pressed into the paper. The result is subtle and tactile.
Blind Deboss
The inverse of emboss, where the design is pressed into the paper rather than raised from it.
Can I combine methods?
Yes. Many jobs use two or more methods in the same piece - ink for the main design and foil for an accent, or blind emboss as a border. We’ll advise on what works together.
How Ordering Works

We design and proof
Our in-house designers develop your card from concept to final proof. You approve before anything goes to press.
Printed and delivered
Approximately two to three weeks from final proof approval.
